McAfee released software patches today for ePO agents on the non-Windows platforms. Since I am one of the lucky guy who is carrying on a PCI auditing project which uses McAfee ePO/Solidcore products across the environment, I was trying to make ePO agent works on one of the Solaris servers. After long chating with the McAfee support this afternoon, he asked me to do re-install type of things but none of them worked. So he then told me to use the latest patch which just release today (most likely in the morning).
When I resumed my work after dinner, the new update just surprised me a lot. It broke down in the half way even when installed the agent into Solaris. I thought it could be something wrong when I downloaded the package (it happened very rare but it could happen. And BTW McAfee download doesn't have a checksum with the downloads so you can verify the correctness). So I went back to the McAfee update download site and found they just released a new one at 7:21pm. Without furthur delay, I got the most fresh file and this time I got the installation through swimmingly. The time I am installing it is around 10:30pm so imagine how hot I feel the package is when I installed it.
But NO, the latest release didn't fix the problem. Mmmm, another troubleshooting session tomorrow...
